Bill Hodge Reclaimed Wood Art

These pieces were inspired by the quilt-making tradition of using scraps of old materials, often worn-out clothing, to create artistic designs.  My quilt work is also made of salvaged materials--scraps left over from other wood art I have made over the years, and from cut up older pieces that I was never quite happy with.

In a way my quilt pieces are like a personal journal, recording many of the designs I had created over a period of years.  And it’s a constant reminder to me that even pieces that don’t turn out the way I want are not a loss, but rather have potential for becoming part of an even more interesting piece in the future.
